Orchard Workshop was founded by Janet Parsons, who is also our co-ordinator. It has evolved over the years since Janet first set up the charity in 1988. Originally the name of the charity was Girls Workshop, reflecting the work done with girls and women. Now Orchard Workshop offers people of all abilities and ages the opportunity to develop their creativity and skills in practical crafts.
Our courses are led by local professional artists and tutors, skilled in woodwork, jewellery and silversmithing, stained glass, pottery, woodturning, enamelling, metalwork, drawing and painting. We also have specialist tutors in literacy and numeracy.
Orchard Workshop provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which to develop your ideas and talents. We offer courses for all aged 8 – 80+! Our team of creative tutors help you to achieve your artistic and personal goals. Courses are designed for small groups so there is time to meet people and make new friends. We are committed to working with people with a broad spectrum of interests, including those with special needs and learning difficulties.
Come and join us in learning new skills and crafts and have some fun!
Orchard Workshop is based in Kingswood, South Glos, and offers a variety of craft courses. Classes are small, friendly and supportive. Tutors are all experienced teachers as well as experts in their own craft.
Our Courses fall into 3 categories.
Term classes, usually of 5/10/12 weeks covering general arts and crafts. Some courses are held during the day and some in evenings.
Short courses, usually 1 day, usually on Saturdays and often a “taster” for the term courses.
Courses for special groups such as adults with learning difficulties.
